I started going by Misiorowski (my stepdad's name) in 5th grade to avoid confusion, as my mom was one of my teachers. Shortly before graduating, I changed my name back to Tharp, though probably most of my classmates only knew me as Misiorowski. (My friends said that name was too long, so they shortened it to "Mouse".)
